Barnham Broom Honours Architectural Legends

Pennink & Steel

Barnham Broom is proud to announce a significant new chapter in its history. As part of a comprehensive course improvement programme, the resort’s two championship-standard golf layouts are returning to their original design roots and will be renamed The Pennink Course and The Steel Course.

This transition honours the internationally acclaimed architects who first shaped the land: Frank Pennink and Donald Steel.

A Return to Original Vision

The primary layout changes involve returning the 1st tees and 18th greens of both courses to their original positions directly in front of the clubhouse. This strategic move is designed to:

  • Enhance the Player Experience: Providing a more dramatic start and finish to every round.
  • Rebalance the Challenge: Restoring the natural flow and difficulty as originally intended by the designers.
  • Celebrate Maturity: Utilizing the established landscape to showcase the courses’ best features.

"We believe these changes mark a new era for Barnham Broom," says the Estates Team. "By returning to the original blueprints of Pennink and Steel, we are offering our members and guests a more authentic and prestigious golfing experience."

A Note on the Winter Course

Barnham Broom would like to thank its members for their continued support throughout a particularly wet winter season. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Estates Team, the Winter Course has remained highly competitive, and the club remains committed to maintaining 18-hole play with minimal use of mats and temporary greens.
