THE PENNINK COURSE
PAR – 71 | 6454 Yards of Back Tees

As Barnham Broom’s flagship championship layout, The Pennink is widely recognised as Norfolk’s premium golf experience. The course carries a distinguished legacy, named after the late Frank Pennink, a pioneering British architect who first designed the original "Valley Course" when the club was founded by Colin Bothway in 1977.

Defined by the winding River Yare, the design favours precision over power, utilising natural contours and tree-lined fairways to test every golfer. A true highlight is the demanding 416-yard, par-4 3rd hole, where the river cuts diagonally across the fairway to demand a pinpoint tee shot and a high-stakes approach.

THE STEEL COURSE
PAR – 72 | 6689 Yards of Back Tees

Named after the prolific designer Donald Steel, who took over Frank Pennink’s architectural practice, the Steel Course offers a more forgiving par-72 experience. Originally set out in 1989 as the Hill Course, this layout was designed by Steel during the same period he revised the old Valley Course, eventually maturing into a contrasting alternative to the more demanding Pennink Course.

Characterised by a distinct links flavour, the course features wide fairways and stunning views of the surrounding countryside. While it may be more accessible, golfers must still navigate carefully placed bunkers and the challenging breezes that sweep across the open landscape, making it a true test of strategy and skill.
