Which Barnham Broom break suits your weekend?
Most weekends here are booked as a break rather than a bed & breakfast rate, so the useful question isn’t which bedroom to choose but which package. Golf, spa, dining and mixed stays all begin in the same place, one of our 46 contemporary bedrooms in the Norfolk countryside ten miles west of Norwich, and then take your two days in quite different directions. This is how they compare, and who each one tends to suit.

If the weekend is really about the golf
The two courses are different enough that the choice of package matters. The Pennink is our flagship championship layout, a par 71 measuring 6,454 yards from the back tees, with the River Yare winding through it and tree-lined fairways that reward precision. Its 419-yard, par-4 third asks you to cross the river diagonally off the fairway, The Steel is longer at 6,689 yards and a par 72, but more forgiving, with wide fairways, a links flavour and breezes to read.
If you've not played here before, a one-night, two-round break gives you both in a weekend. If you'd rather not rush, the two-night versions spread the same golf across a longer stay with dinner each evening. You can see the full range on our golf breaks page.
If the weekend is about slowing down
Spa breaks are built around treatments and unhurried meals rather than a timetable. The spa has five treatment suites, including a room for couples, and guests also have access to The Edge Health & Fitness with its indoor pool, sauna, steam room and fitness suite. Treatments use ESPA products, with Jessica Nails for manicures and pedicures, and there are vegan options as well as treatments designed for men and for mothers-to-be.
Spa opening times are worth planning around, since the spa closes at 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays and stays open until 7pm from Tuesday to Friday. A Friday arrival therefore gives you more of an evening to work with than a Saturday one. Our spa breaks page shows what each package includes.
If the two of you want different things
This is the gap the Spa & Golf Break is designed to fill. One guest plays 18 holes while the other has a 50-minute treatment, and you both get the stay, dinner, breakfast and health club access. It’s the practical answer when one of you has been eyeing the Pennink and the other is looking to relax and enjoy an indulgent spa break.
If dinner is the point of the trip
Some of our breaks are simply about eating well and staying over. The Brasserie serves seasonal British plates from 6pm to 9pm daily and is for guests aged 16 and over. The Sports Bar is the more relaxed option, open from 10am to 9pm with Neapolitan brick pizzas and a children's menu, and the Brasserie Lounge and Terrace serves Afternoon Tea between 12:30pm and 3:30pm. Packages such as Friday Feeling, the Relaxation Escape and Lazy Sunday Dine & Unwind are all built around a three-course dinner and breakfast, with afternoon tea added on the longer stays. They're listed with our other hotel breaks.
What September adds
Three dated events fall into September, so a weekend can be planned around one of them. The Addams Family Murder Mystery runs on 12 September from 6pm to 10:30pm at £49.50 a ticket. A Discover Microneedling evening follows on 14 September, 6pm to 7pm, at £5 a ticket including a glass of fizz and a spa gift. A Networking Brunch takes place on 30 September from 11am to 2pm at £35. Event tickets are booked separately from your stay, so reserve both if you want the pair.
